How to use my own domain with my fmcloud.fm server

Modified on Fri, 30 Dec 2022 at 09:51 AM

When you deploy a fmcloud.fm server, a subdomain of fmcloud.fm will be assigned to it (you can choose it during the configuration process, whether you're using our chatbot or our web form.

It means that your server can be reached at my-preferred-subdomain.fmcloud.fm

Of course, the fmcloud.fm domain is secured and all communications with your server are encrypted (SSL/TLS), thanks to the fact that we configure your server with the appropriate SSL certificate.

But you might also want to use your server under you own domain. Actually, this looks really nice and costs… zero!

Say your domain, that you probably use for your website and email already is 'my-domain.com'. Wouldn't it be nice if your FileMaker / Claris server was located at 'my-subdomain.my-domain.com'?

To do this, you need 2 things:

  • tell us the desired full address of your server ('my-subdomain.my-domain.com')
  • configure your domain by adding a CNAME record (examples below)

We take care of everything else for free, including the SSL certificate, which competitors would charge up to $100/year.

To configure a CNAME record

  • your domain = my-domain.com
  • your subdomain = my-subdomain
  • your fmcloud.fm server address =
